Senior applicator / sealant applicator
You know the trade. We give you the room.
A tight sealant joint, a satisfied customer and home with a good feeling. That is what you do it for. At Stevig Kitwerk we are looking for an experienced sealant applicator who can get on with the work alone and who enjoys being part of a friendly team. You know your trade, you think along with us, and you like a bit of banter along the way.
The work
What will you be doing?
You head out in a Stevig Kitwerk van to a wide range of jobs. From bathrooms, kitchens and skirtings in people’s homes to sealant work on construction and renovation projects.
You assess the substrate, choose the right approach and make sure the finish is tight. You keep an overview of your own work and sort things out on site with the customer or the site manager. Something turns out differently from expected? Then you think along about a solution and check in with your colleagues.
Now and then you also take a junior out with you. You show how it is done, pass on practical tips and help a new colleague get the trade under their belt.
Who
Who are we looking for?
An experienced sealant applicator who knows what good sealant work asks for. You work on your own, treat other people’s property with care and hand over work you stand behind.
You keep to what you have agreed and you dare to say when something could be done better or more cleverly. And alongside serious craftsmanship there is room for good company. We are looking for a colleague you can work well with and have a laugh with.
What you get
What do you get from us?
- A salary that matches your experience and your craftsmanship.
- A Stevig Kitwerk van for your day-to-day work.
- Good tools, professional sealant products, workwear and protective equipment.
- Varied jobs and the room to work on your own.
- Short lines to the office and to your colleagues.
- The chance to guide junior applicators and pass on what you know.
- A team where your effort and your ideas count.
Still to be filled in: gross hourly rate from/to for a senior applicator
What you get with us
You can work with us as a self-employed applicator or on our payroll. If the work grows, a place on the payroll can come with it. Which of the two it is for you, we agree before you start.
- Collective agreement, travel hours and working hours
- Working hours and travel hours we agree together. You work out of Utrecht, and how far we drive differs per project. What applies to that, you will hear at the interview.
- Agreements in writing
- What you earn, how we count travel hours and whether the van comes home with you: that is in your contract before your first day. Nothing on trust after the event.
- Working area
- Projects throughout the Netherlands, work in people’s homes within roughly 75 kilometres of Utrecht. If a project is further away, you hear that before you say yes.
Self-employed
Work for self-employed applicators
Do you work for yourself, with your own van, tools and protective equipment? Then we put work out to you as contracted work: an agreed price per linear metre or per project, paid once the work has been approved.
- Price
- The price is on the work order before you open the first cartridge.
- Payment
- When your invoice is paid we agree per job; that term is on the work order.
You decide yourself how and when you carry out the work, you may send someone in your place and you may work for more than one client. That is how it should be and that is how we do it.
Requirements
Driving licence and VCA
Because you head out on your own, this role needs a category B driving licence. Working safely is part of it too, so a valid VCA safety certificate (the Dutch safety, health and environment checklist for contractors) is required.
Missing one of the two? Do get in touch. We will talk through what is possible, and we can invest in you gaining it.
Apply
It is that simple
You message or e-mail us
No cover letter needed, no CV required. Just tell us what you do and where you are from.
We reply
Within one working day. You will then hear straight away whether there is work for you.
You come along for a day
As soon as a job is scheduled, you come along for a day. You see how we work, we see how you work.
We make clear arrangements
Does it feel right on both sides? Then we discuss your pay, working hours and how we will work together at our office. That way you know exactly where you stand.
Welcome to Team Stevig
You are part of the team from day one. New to the trade? We train you step by step to become an independent sealant applicator. Already have experience? Then you get the room to show your craftsmanship.
Hi! I saw that you are looking for sealant applicators. I am Daan from Utrecht and I am twenty years old. No experience applying sealant yet, but I really want to learn!
Hi Daan! Great that you messaged us 👋 You do not need experience to start with us, but you do need a healthy dose of motivation. Would you like to come along for a day to see if we click?
Great, sounds good! 👍
We have set aside a spot for you next Monday so you can spend a day working alongside our lads. If you give us your address, we will pick you up at 8:00 that day. The only thing you need to bring is some food and drink for yourself. If you like it, we can discuss the agreement at the office afterwards.
Brilliant! See you next Monday at 8:00. 😄
Can you only start in a few months?
Send us a message anyway. We are happy to talk to sealant applicators who know their trade, even if you are somewhere else right now and can only start in a few months. To be honest: whether there is work for you then depends on what comes in.
Do you have photos of your sealant work? Feel free to send them along, we like to see what you can do.
Not a tradesperson yet but would you like to become one? Then have a look at junior applicator / sealant applicator.
